From the Douglas County Sheriff's Facebook Page:
"This weekend we will be joining efforts with the Colorado State Patrol on a zero tolerance enforcement for distracted driving. This enforcement is planned to concentrate on high traffic areas and other areas in Douglas County that have been identified as high violation areas.
The zero tolerance enforcement is an attempt to raise awareness and it is our hope that it will help eliminate the amount of distracted drivers on our roads and highways.
A citation for distracted driving can cost a person up to $163 and 4 points on their driving record. A distracted driver can also cost a person their life! Please remember to put your phones down while you are driving. Colorado State Law prohibits any person from operating a motor vehicle while text messaging or participating in any form of manual data (CRS 42-4-239)."
