This property is a true Rocky Mountain slice of heaven. The historic log cabin was hand built in 1934 and has been updated and expanded. Nestled next to an aspen thicket with mature evergreens and a long curved driveway, there is lovely privacy. Horse Creek runs year-round on the northern border with the south bordering Roosevelt National Forest with a trail leading into RMNP. When you enter this charming cabin from the covered front porch, you step into the cozy living room with a beautiful floor to ceiling stone fireplace with large flagstone mantle, original oak floors, vaulted ceilings with a skylight and dramatic views of 13,916-foot Meeker Peak. Off the living room is the bedroom and loft above. You proceed through the kitchen containing the restored 1890 cook stove, supplemented with other appliances, a refrigerator and microwave. A step down takes you to a family room with dining area overlooking Horse Creek, 11,000-foot Twin Sisters and seasonal bubbling brook. This room, all in natural pine paneling with vaulted ceiling, includes a sitting area and an early 1900s pot belly stove. Outdoors, along with access to Horse Creek there is a handsome fire pit, a picnic table and an old Truax ore cart. Fire mitigation on the property began in 2012 and has continued to date. There is a large storage shed with a loft and two small outbuildings. The property includes a small triangle of land across the road on the south, perfect for event overflow activities. A variety of wildlife pass through this property for great animal and bird watching. There are numerous flower and tree varieties and wild raspberries, strawberries, parsley, onion, currents and more. Most furnishings, including basic kitchen utensils, pots and pans, silverware, linen for beds and bath, and tools are included. Mere minutes/miles away from RMNP entrances and amenities such as hiking, livery, gift and grocery shopping, coffee shops, gas, lodging, fire department, Estes Park, Lyons and Allenspark.
